Coach reports MS girls track & field results

The Greene County Middle School girls combined to take second place at the Perry Coed Middle School Classic in Perry on Friday, April 25.

Team scores were 168  ADM, 123 Greene County, 104 Perry, 85 Fort Dodge Phillips MS, 80 Winterset, 17 Perry MS Eighth and 12 Perry MS Seventh.

Greene County girls had first place finishes as follows: shot, Laurin Lyons*  29′ 10.5″ ); high jump, Megan Durbin 4′ 11″; 100 meter hurdles, Melanie Doran :32.41; and 200 m hurdles, Doran :18.26.

Second place finishes were: discus, Ashley Millard 58′ 9″; long jump, Megan Durbin 14′ 1.75″; 100 m dash, Durbin*, :14.21; 1500 m run, Haley Hall*, 5:44.94; 10-flight shuttle hurdle relay*, 1:18.36, Lauren Carlson, Chantel Flack, Emily Finch, Sydney Schiltz.

Third place finishes were: shot, Onica Delp, 26′ 8″; 4 X 100 m relay, :59.95, Carlson, Delp, Schiltz, Durbin; 4 X 400 m relay, 5:04.77, Kara Betts, Finch, Regan Lamoureux, Doran.
The 4 X 800 m relay placed fourth but set a new school record with a time of 12:39.9. Runners were Caytlyn Adamson, Lacey Ganoe, Gwen Black and Lamoureux.

”This was our second meet of the year and the weather was perfect for our girls to perform at their best.  We started with new Greene County Middle School records last year and ended up breaking five of those on Friday night.  Megan Durbin jumped 4′ 11″ in the high jump and almost cleared 5′ 0″. Melanie Doran was strong for us in the 100M and 200M hurdle events, as well as the high jump and 400M relay.  Laurin Lyons continues to improve her shot distances and ended up breaking her old record from last year,” said coach Teresa Green. Roger Olhausen also coaches.

The next meet for the middle school girls is a triangular with Denison and Carroll Thursday at Denison.
